 Industry Focus

Our strengths are focused on several industries, examples of assignments in each are:


Electricity
We developed integrated frameworks for industry to deal with emergency and crisis incidents affecting more than one corporate entity, for the Australian NEM and for Singapore's disaggregating industry. Our work included developing and implementing emergency and crisis plans for generation, transmission, and distribution organisations, and exercising those plans to ensure their performance is in concert with the overall industry frameworks. We regularly exercise whole sections or states within the Australian NEM (up to 10 to 12 organisations across several states) to ensure mutual performance by all parties in major incidents.

Gas
We conducted an international best practice risk and crisis management study for a gas industry regulator. We have developed emergency and continuity plans in elements of the gas industry that have included: upstream gas production; natural gas transmission; reticulation and retail supply; LPG storage and distribution, working for clients such as: Alinta, Origin, Elgas, Australian Pipeline Trust, PowerGas (Singapore), Woodside.

Transportation & Logistics
We have developed management frameworks that integrate emergency response and crisis management plans with comprehensive continuity plans to enable our clients in this sector to respond to a wide range of disruptive events . Clients for whom we have developed, implemented and exercised emergency response and continuity plans include NSW State Transit (Sydney Buses), GrainCorp, and Sydney Ferries Corporation.

Ports
We have implemented and exercised management level plans for port facilities in Australia, shipyards and terminals in Singapore, and seaboard storage / dispatch terminals across the region. We assessed emergency response capacity, most notably for operational elements of terminal operators at a major Australian facility, including a container terminal, several dangerous goods tank farms, and common berth and loading facilities.

Water
We conducted a Board inquiry into a major water quality crisis and provided expert assistance during the regulatory inquiry into the same incident.
We developed crisis and response procedures and conducted a series of large-scale desktop and real-time exercises for a major water utility.
We also conducted strategic risk reviews and developed risk treatment strategies, integrated contingency and response arrangements, and integrated strategic management systems. Our clients in the water industry include: Public Utilities Board (Singapore), Hunter Water Corporation, and Veolia as well as several city/shire councils.

Petroleum
We develop and exercise emergency management plans that cover a wide range of middle and downstream facilities such as refineries and processing plants, storage terminals, transport, and distribution, for clients such as: Caltex, Shell, and Origin. We develop and test corporate level crisis management plans covering all risks and, in some cases, a very broad geographic area.

Government
In addition to our work with specific industries, we also work with governments on several levels to ensure the highest standards of emergency accountabilities and strategic risk management. This has included working with regulatory authorities and other government departments during the privatisation of utilities to implement safety and emergency management regimes for the utilities and carrying out independent studies to review risk strategies and management practices.
